Texans Host Successful Conservative Conference and State Republican Assembly Convention

Top conservatives from across Texas descended on Mt Pleasant on June 12th and 13th for the 3rd Annual Conservative Conference and Texas Republican Assembly Convention. Grassroots training was provided on Friday afternoon and evening by Rick Green from Wallbuilders.com . Rick’s presentations were top notch and were conveyed in a way that made you want more information and training! Dinner Friday night was at the prestigious Selah Ranch of Mt. Vernon and was a refreshing break from the run of the mill conference dinners.

Saturday brought an awesome morning with some of the best known conservatives in Texas, including Cathie Adams of Texas Eagle Forum, Tom Pauken, Chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission and former Republican Party of Texas Chair, Congressman Louie Gohmert, Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and State Representative Leo Berman, a potential candidate for Texas Governor, and many others. President McNamara presented Congressman Gohmert with the "Reagan Legacy Award for 2009" as part of the annual conference.

The business portion of the meeting Saturday afternoon had its own excitement. A contested race for TXRA President left Mike McNamara, the incumbent, standing. Other winners, in uncontested races, and on the official nominating committees preferred slate included Michael Gallops, Vice President (his opponent declined the nomination from the floor); Michele Samuelson, National Committeewoman; and Tim Bradberry, National Committeeman. Michael replaced Ed Check who had previously been VP but who chose not to run again and Tim replaced Steve Hollern who ran for President.

Bert Topper was reappointed as TXRA Treasurer and Carolyn Polish of the Dallas County Republican Assembly was appointed TXRA Secretary, replacing Sue Evenwel who stepped down. Sue was primarily responsible for planning and coordinating the entire weekend event and did a fabulous job! Sue and Bert were recognized by President McNamara for their contributions to the Texas Republican Assembly.
