Planned Parenthood Receives Approximately $1.5 Million a Day in Taxpayer Funding
AUL Notes That Planned Parenthood Receives Approximately $1.5 Million Dollars a Day in Taxpayer Funding as Reported in its 2011-2012 Annual Report
By Americans United for Life Tuesday, January 8th, 2013“Planned Parenthood continues to increase its taxpayer funding while simultaneously expanding its abortion business,” says AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (1-8-2012)–While Planned Parenthood released its annual report this week, Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest notes that “the report reveals a ‘Big Abortion’ business significantly subsidized with government largesse, funded by American taxpayers.”
The data in Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report reveals that the abortion giant saw three million clients in 2011, while performing an astonishing 333,964 abortions. During this same time period, Planned Parenthood provided only 2,300 adoption referrals (one for every 145 abortions) and provided only 28,674 prenatal services. In line with its history, the number of abortions performed continues to vastly outpace the number of adoption referrals provided, inferring that adoption is clearly not part of Planned Parenthood’s overall business model.
Yoest observed: “Planned Parenthood’s annual report should be graded incomplete for at least one important reason. Beginning on January 1 of this year, Planned Parenthood is requiring every affiliate to operate at least one clinic that performs abortions. Planned Parenthood’s story in 2013 reveals an abortion-centered business model. The nation’s largest abortion provider continues to make ever-more money from the suffering of women and girls as the leader of Big Abortion.”
In addition to the number of abortions performed, Planned Parenthood reports that it provided 1,425,746 “emergency contraception kits.” Importantly, certain drugs and devices labeled “emergency contraception” such as ella have mechanisms of action that can end unborn life.
Strikingly, government funding and grants to Planned Parenthood continue to make up a substantial part of its budget, now comprising approximately 45 percent, or $542.4 million, of Planned Parenthood’s approximately $1.2 billion in annual revenue. This number equates to approximately $1.5 million dollars per day in government subsidies.

The NFRA fights tirelessly to elect a strong, grassroots Republican Party leadership. The more they succeed, the more we’ll see real change in America.
As a famous Californian once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” That’s why, now more than ever, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies is looked upon as one of the preeminent guardians of Ronald Reagan’s legacy, providing a powerful, unwavering voice for conservative principles amid the pandemonium of modern politics. Their advocacy is vital to our party’s future.
When conservatives took back America’s largest Protestant denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention, from the liberal leadership which had hijacked it, we used the same strategies and tactics that make the NFRA so potent a force today. Those strategies worked flawlessly then, and they’ll work as conservatives assert themselves in the Republican Party today.
The Republican Assemblies are truly a force for renewal within the Republican Party.
I am honored to stand with the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, one of the strongest voices for conservative values and a revitalized Republican Party in America.
The NFRA has never been more important than it is right now. We no longer have the luxury to nominate Republicans who, once elected, undermine the principles of individual freedom and limited government that define our party. Republican Assemblies across the country have kept the conservative movement alive and the future of our party and of our country ultimately depends on their success.
When I was a high school student, Phyllis Schlafly’s book, A Choice, Not an Echo, was an important influence on my political direction. Today I support the NFRA for that same reason. The Republican Party must be more than just a cheaper, slower echo of the Democrats: it must be a distinct choice, for conservative values and for a future of freedom. If you long for that choice, then you should join the NFRA.
We need more people like you [the Republican Assemblies] who truly believe in the Constitution, in liberty and in standing up to an establishment that believes in neither.
