State-run health care, state-run health care coverage, state-run research & development. Venture capitalists squeezed out of the market with punitive taxes. Every last one of us dependent on the government for everything from our paychecks to the medicine in our cabinets.

I try to be a positive person, but this is beyond ridiculous.

We need to stop asking "where will it stop?" and start taking action to stop it.

Comment on Poll: Capitalism vs. Socialism by Rod D. Martin

Bobby says "What is really scary is to look at poll results below the surface. As Rasmussen tells us in his report, adults under 30 are "essentially divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided." This is truly frightening. For those under 30, it’s basically a toss up? Capitalism, socialism… socialism, capitalism… who cares? That is the attitude, and it’s one that will drive this country to ruin."

Perhaps that's true, but honestly, I think this stat is more reflective of two facts: (1) These kids haven't ever worked for themselves yet, and haven't paid any serious taxes either, much less had to deal with a serious bureaucratic snafu (other than at their colleges); and (2) the left has swept them up in a lot of online activism and blogging that makes them tend to believe the utopian delusions leftists forever spew.

I am not at all convinced they will adopt those delusions in a systematic way. While I do not at all dispute Bobby's concern that this could become a very grave thing, I think that (a) the Right doing better online and in person (an example of the latter would be [verbally] shooting more at the Democrats than at fellow Republicans), (b) this movement -- the NFRA -- making gains in its unique work to clean up the Republican Party, and (c) just plain old real life will go a long way toward bringing these kids around in their 30s.

No, I think the much more disconcerting statistic is the headline number: that only 53% prefer freedom, while 20% prefer socialism. Or to be a bit more precise, about half of Democrats who have an opinion prefer socialism.

This tells you who we're fighting, folks. We have an intensely anti-liberty minority in this country. It's small as a percentage, but it's a huge number of people. And at the moment, it's running the country.

Republicans need to wake up. The Washington Republicans need to wake up and stop playing debate club with "my distinguished friend the gentleman from Havana." And the rest of the Republicans -- us -- need to wake up and realize the other side does NOT in ANY way share our values, that the future of our country is at stake in the here and now, and that it's time to focus fire on the foe.

Those kids will come around if they hear why capitalism is better, and why it's brought liberty and an end to oppression and suffering and want to countless lands previously benighted by, well, socialism. Let them hear it from us. And let them hear it from us while we work tirelessly to defeat the socialists trying to plunge us into a new Dark Age.

I served in the Marine Corps under Ronald Reagan and would have gone anywhere for him due to his character and genuine love of America and her people. That was a time when our enemies truly were afraid to mess with the United States. When they saw Reagan, they saw strength, resolve and might. When they look at this country now, they seem to chuckle and take as many cookies from the jar knowing they won't suffer any consequences.

"The only way to get back to the fundamental principles and values that Pres. Reagan used to unite the country is to weed out the the “so called” Repbublicans RINO’S - Republican In Name Only. They should be forced by the The People to be Republicans, step out of office or just completely leave the party.
A football team rarely wins if they aren’t willing to throw the ball down field and blitz when on defense.

I was raised like most young men where, in a town that seemed like mayberry. Everyone was good to one another. Sure there were the usually suspects and situations of youth, but morality, honor and a conscience kept everyone in line. Now I have the kids (4) and they are challenged so greatly with what society has become and how little it has to offer. We must always keep the faith and do what is right for the right reasons, not simple selfish interest or possibilities of returned favors.

Respectfully submitted

This is such a great book. Horribly anti-Christian in parts, but if you can mentally filter that out a bit, an amazing book nevertheless.

Oh, and Steve Moore rocks. :)
