About Tom Hudson

Tom HudsonTom Hudson is the General Counsel and Vice President for Special Projects for the National Federation of Republican Assemblies.  He has been assigned to help recruit in the Great Plains Region.  He also serves as Parliamentarian and Rules Committee Chairman for the California Republican Assembly.

Tom Hudson has been involved at every level of Republican politics since joining the Berkeley College Republicans at the University of California in 1985.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the California Republican Party as the Northern Vice Chairman.  He is the Chairman of the Republican Party in Placer County, which is California’s most Republican county.  Tom is unique in having been elected to the Republican Central Committees in five different counties and serving with distinction as an officer in each of them.  He previously served as the Chairman of the Alameda County Republican Party in California’s most Democrat county.  He has continuously served on the California Republican Party State Central Committee since 1987, having been a member of the Executive Committee for over a decade.  He has volunteered for hundreds of federal, state, and local campaigns.

In addition to partisan politics, Tom Hudson has been active with various taxpayer advocacy organizations.  He currently serves as Executive Director of the California Taxpayer Protection Committee and as Treasurer of its political action committee.  He has been a leading opponent against bond measures and tax increases throughout California, even serving as the principal contact against statewide bond campaigns.

By day, Tom works in Sacramento as Senior Tax Counsel to Bill Leonard on the Board of Equalization, California’s elected tax appeals board.  Bill Leonard’s enormous district includes Placer County and 33 other counties from San Bernardino and Ventura to the Oregon border.  He specializes in helping taxpayers with property and income tax disputes.  Tom Hudson previously ran his own law practice and then spent almost a decade working as a policy consultant for the California Legislature.

Tom and his wife Carlene live with their two daughters on a small horse ranch on the rural, western edge of Placer County.
